    TEACHING AND LEARNING RESEARCH AND APPLICATION CENTER (EKOEĞİTİM) BYLAW


     

     

     

     


    SECTION ONE
    Purpose, Scope, Basis, and Definitions

    Purpose
    ARTICLE 1 – (1) The purpose of this bylaw is to set out the general rules and principles regarding the aims, activities, governing bodies and their duties of Izmir University of Economics Teaching and Learning Research and Application Center.

    Scope
    ARTICLE 2 – (1) This bylaw includes provisions regarding the aims, activities, governing bodies and their duties of Izmir University of Economics Teaching and Learning Research and Application Center.

    Basis
    ARTICLE 3 – (1) This bylaw has been established in accordance with paragraph (d), sub paragraph (2) of clause one of Article 7, and Article 14 of Higher Education Law No. 2547 dated 4 November 1981.


    Definitions
    ARTICLE 4 – (1) The references in this bylaw are as follows;
    a) Center (EKOEĞİTİM): Izmir University of Economics Teaching and Learning Research and Application Center, 
    b) Director: Director of the Center,
    c) Rector: The Rector of Izmir University of Economics,
    ç) University (IUE): Izmir University of Economics,
    d) Administrative Board: The Administrative Board of the Center.

    SECTION TWO
    Aims of the Center and Areas of Activity
    Aims of the Center
    ARTICLE 5 – (1) The aims of the center are as follows:
    a) Conduct research on all relative fields, and educational activities in order to carry out teaching and learning efficiently in and outside the classrooms. 
    b) Support integration of academicians and students with innovative educational practices by generalizing efficient learning processes and methods that encourage critical thinking;  provide services such as study groups, seminars, conferences, it support, counselling, etc. both for academicians and students. 


    Areas of Activity
    ARTICLE 6 – (1) Activities of the center are as follows:
    a) Provide necessary support demanded by distant education programs.  
    b) Extend digital education techniques.
    c) Provide peer support to students for courses they need help with.
    ç) Provide self-development support to students on subjects such as academic planning, efficient study methods, writing and speaking skills. 
    d) Provide academic development support to students on subjects they need help with.
    e) Provide support to students on subjects such as academic ethics, peer pressure, lifelong learning, time management, and etc.
    f) Provide support to post graduate students on subjects such as preparing thesis proposals, getting ready for competency exam, applying for scholarships, and etc.
    g) Provide support to academicians with new and efficient teaching techniques.
    ğ) Organize seminars, workshops, and conferences on teaching and learning.
    h) Prepare database on teaching and learning.

    SECTION THREE
    The Organs of the Center and its Duties

    Organs of the Center
    ARTICLE 7 – (1) The center is made up of the following:
    a) Center Director
    b) Administrative Board.

    Director and Duties
    ARTICLE 8 – (1) Director of the Center is assigned by the Rector among the lecturers for three years period.  Upon the request of the Director of the Center, two people among the lecturers are assigned by the Rector as Vice-Directors for three years period. When the Director of the Center is absent, one of the Vice-Directors substitutes for him/her. Period of substitution cannot exceed six months.

    (2) Director of the Center is the President of the Administrative Board. When the assignment period of the Director of the Center expires s/he can be reassigned.

    (3) The duties of the Director of the Center are; to call Administrative Board to a meeting, implement the work schedule and the decisions taken by the Administrative Board, to supervise the activities, to direct the Center in accordance with its aims, to prepare the annual activity report of the Center and submit it to the Administrative Board.

    Administrative Board and Duties
    ARTICLE 9 – (1) Administrative Board is made up of six people assigned by the Rector among lecturers of the University and the Director of the Center. The members, whose assignment period expires, may be reassigned. New members may be assigned to conclude the period of the members who leave before their assignments expire.

    (2) Administrative Board convenes at least once a month upon the invitation of the Director and they review the activities of the Center and take decisions about the related subjects. Administrative Board convenes with absolute majority and the decisions are taken by majority of votes.

    (3) Administrative Board ascertains the bases regarding the arrangement of the activity report that the Director of the Center will prepare at the end of each activity period, evaluates the report presented, discusses and adjudicates the work schedule of the next period.

    SECTION FOUR
    Final Provisions

    Effectiveness
    ARTICLE 10 – (1) This Bylaw takes effect on the date it is published.

    Enforcement
    ARTICLE 11 – (1) The Rector of the Izmir University of Economics enforces the provisions of this Bylaw.
